Micah 7:7 (ESV)
7 But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.

Did you have a rough day? Pray to your heavenly Father, for He hears us when we pray. It does not matter how hard today was, God can make tomorrow better. In 2 Kings 20:1, we find that Hezekiah was having a bad day; in fact, a series of bad days because he was so sick that he was at the point of death. Then, to make things worse, he was told by God, through the prophet Isaiah, that he was going to die. That is what you call having a bad day.

Hezekiah did not want to die, so he did something about it—he prayed.

2 Kings 20:2-3 (ESV)
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, saying, 3 “Now, O LORD, please remember how I have walked before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in your sight.”

Fortunately for Hezekiah, we serve a God who listens. He heard the prayer of His saint and told him, “I have heard your prayer,” and He added 15 years to his life. If you are a saint, God hears your prayers as well. Whatever caused you to have a bad day today, it is likely your day was not as bad as the one that Hezekiah had. And, just like with Hezekiah, by the power of prayer, tomorrow you can have a better day.

Did you have a great day? Pray to your heavenly Father about it. God loves it when we demonstrate our appreciation, thanking Him for all He does for us. We know God is listening, so, if you had a great day, let God know you appreciate His ongoing care for you. Tell God you are thankful for all that He does. One thing that brings forth God’s wrath is ingratitude.

Romans 1:18, 21 (ESV)
18 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth… 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him…”

Let us not be like the Gentiles of the first century. We know God is real and that “every good gift and every perfect gift comes from above” (James 1:17), so let us express our acknowledgment of this to Him. He is listening.

Maybe your day was just okay. It was not great, but it was not bad either. It was just another day. Pray to your Father about that too. Thank God that He gave you another day. As Christians, we should be thankful for every day that our God gives us, knowing that it is another day that we have the opportunity to live in the Lord, enjoy His blessings, and be comforted by His presence.

Have you prayed today? We can say with Micah, “…my God will hear me.” Let us make a habit of praying in the morning when we get up, and at night before we fall off to sleep. One thing we know—God is listening.

As you wind down for the night, think about these things.
