One of the saddest truths today is the lost state of the world. The majority of people who have lived in this world will die outside of God’s favor (Matthew 7:13-14). The devil has blinded the eyes of those who reject Christ (2 Corinthians 4:4). As a result, the majority of people believe that they are traveling down a good road, even if they are not quite sure where it ends. They believe that they are living right; thus, it must lead to somewhere good in the end. Sadly, they are wrong.

Proverbs 14:12 (ESV)
12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.

There is only one road that leads to glory. It is a narrow way, but it is the only right way. Jesus is that way.

John 14:6 (ESV)
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

This is an unpopular truth today. No one seems to like the idea that there is only one way to be saved. The opinion that there is a plurality of ways to get to heaven, or whatever place of para-dise a person believes in, is formulated by emotions, not truth. Since so many people believe in different things, most think it is narrow-minded to believe that everyone is wrong except one group of people who are called Christians and follow Christ.

This sentiment of the world does not change the truth. God’s way is always right, and His way involves salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus is the way because He is the only one who has ever qualified to hold such a position. He qualified Himself by living without sin (2 Corin-thians 5:21; Hebrews 4:13; 1 Peter 2:22; 1 John 3:5). This made Jesus uniquely qualified to be the way back to God.

Being without blemish or spot, Jesus was in position to pay the price for sin on our behalf (Ro-mans 6:23). By living sinlessly, and then offering Himself on the cross for our purification (He-brews 9:14), Jesus condemned sin in the flesh.

Romans 8:3 (ESV)
3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh.

This was the only way for man to be redeemed, and the only way one can take advantage of what Jesus did for us is to believe in Him (John 8:24). No one else’s blood can wash away our sins; therefore, Jesus is not just one of many ways, He is the only true and living way. Buddha cannot save anyone. Confucius is not the way. Muhammad, the founder of Islam, has millions of follow-ers, but. so far as salvation goes, he can only lead people away from God, not to Him.

The problem with these men, and all others who think they can lead people to heaven, is that they did not qualify to save anyone. They were not sinless, and they did not die for anyone (1 Corin-thians 1:13). If you want to be saved, there is only one way—follow Jesus. You will never be disappointed (Romans 10:11).

As you wind down for the night, think about these things.
