Being willing to compromise is sometimes good.  Many marriages have been ruined because one or both spouses involved have not been willing to compromise in the relationship.  It is a childish attitude that says, “I have to have everything my way.”  All healthy relationships include a willingness to compromise once in a while.

Having said that, there are some areas in life where we should never compromise.  Our relationship with God and His will are areas that certainly fall into that category.  Paul demonstrated this kind of conviction when it came to God’s plan of salvation.

Galatians 2:3-5 (ESV)
3  But even Titus, who was with me, was not forced to be circumcised, though he was a Greek. 4  Yet because of false brothers secretly brought in—who slipped in to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into slavery— 5  to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

There are some things to which we must stay true, not compromising for even a moment.  Let us look at a few of those things this week.

First and foremost, we must always stay true to God.  This begins with never wavering in faith.  We live in a world full of religious critics who call into question the existence of God.  Do not allow them to have any influence on your thinking.  God is real and the evidence of His reality is seen by the things that He has created.

Romans 1:20 (ESV)
20  For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Who is without excuse?  Those who suppress the truth about God (Romans 1:18).  Let us never be one of them, not even for a moment.

Staying true to God involves more than just believing that He is.  We must demonstrate our loyalty to Him by always striving to please Him in all that we do.  After all, to do so is to follow in the steps of our Savior (John 8:29).  Jesus always did what was pleasing to His Father.  He never swayed from the mentality to do so, for His food was to do the will of Him who sent Him (John 4:34).  Even His enemies recognized this to be true.

Matthew 22:15-16 (ESV)
15  Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his words. 16  And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone’s opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances.

As you wind down for the night, think about these things.
